Ster-O-Tap Dual Stage Water Filters:
Instructions

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

The PRIME WATER Dual Stage Filter consists of a 0.5 micron molded carbon outer shell, to remove objectionable taste and odor, combined with the Ster-O-Tap® MF 0.15 micron capillary membrane cartridge in the center, which stops all bacteria and cysts.

The water flows from the outer carbon shell to the center and the filtered water exits through the capillary membranes on the side with the white collar, as on the picture

The Dual Stage Filter has a female adapter and is therefore suitable for Counter Top Dispensers and Under the Counter Housings with a male connector (through which the filtered water exits) and which are equipped with an air release valve. It is not recommended to use the Dual Stage Filter with devices that have different configurations.

Application in a Counter Top Dispenser

Unscrew the bowl from the base plate. Place the Dual Stage Filter with the white collar down on the male connector and make sure that the cartridge is pushed all the way down, so that the white collar touches the seal ring in the base plate. Screw the bowl back in place, open the water supply and let the water run for a minute, after which the device is ready for use. Remove any remaining air by activating the air release valve on the bowl (air trapped in the membrane cartridge will restrict water flow).

Application in a 10" Under The Counter Housing

Unscrew the bowl from the cap. Place the Dual Stage Filter with the white collar up on the male connector and make sure that the cartridge is pushed all the way up, so that the white collar touches the seal ring in the cap. Screw the bowl back in place, open the water supply and let the water run for a minute, after which the device is ready for use. Remove any remaining air by activating the air release valve on the bowl (air trapped in the membrane cartridge will restrict water flow).

Important notices, service life and replacement indication

  • If for any reason the water has been removed from the bowl, the air release valve should continuously be activated during refilling of the bowl, until water comes out of the valve. In case of an ‘Under the Counter’ application it is advised to close and re-open the water supply several times and activate the air release valve simultaneously.
  • If the system has not been in use for days the water should run for 1 minute, before using it.
  • If there is flow problem with the Dual Stage Filter, that is not related to an air lock (check with release valve) it is the result of stopping large amounts of contaminants reaching the faucet. At this time the Dual Stage Filter should be replaced.
  • The Dual Stage Filter should be replaced after 6 months.
  • Do not touch the membranes inside the cartridge. Do not allow the cartridge to freeze. Max. operating pressure 88 psi (6 bar). Max. operating temperature 100°F (40°C).
  • Contaminants accumulated in the membrane cartridge effect flow rate and may discolor the membranes, but will not reduce the filtration effectiveness.
  • Because of the broad and unpredictable variations in the water quality and quantity of micro particles found in water, the life expectancy of the Dual Stage Filter will depend on the silt density of the local water. The degree of scale reduction also depends on local water conditions.
  • Performance specifications are based on the use of a Dual Stage Filter in conjunction with a Dual Stage Under the Counter or Countertop Kit selected by Prime Water Systems. Other filter housings used with the Dual Stage Filter must have an air release capability.
