generation. Introducing the next generation ozonator...
We use two advanced technologies which we call Dynamic Resonant Mode
Operation (DRMO) and Zero-Point Voltage Switching (ZPVS).
Our Fused Quartz Crystal (99.995% pure quartz crystal) Ozone Tube has a
natural resonant frequency. The resonant frequency is determined by,
among other properties, the length and diameter of the tube, the
dielectric properties of the high-grade Fused Quartz Crystal (dielectric
constant = 3.75, dielectric strength = 50,000,000 Volts/metre)
Generating Chamber, material aging, humidity, barometric pressure, and
temperature, etc. Coupled with the secondary windings of our
high-frequency Tesla fly-back transformer, the ozone tube creates a
series-resonant tank circuit. This produces a 14 kHz pure sine-wave of
8,500 Volts P-P across the ozone tube. This in turn creates the cold
plasma / cold corona discharge. This plasma discharge glows a deep
violet colour. When air that contains oxygen (normal air we breath)
passes through the plasma field, the oxygen (O2) molecules are converted
into high energy ozone (O3) molecules.
Previous ozone generator designs required that high-frequency ozone
tubes be carefully tuned to the resonant frequency of the transformer
through the use of precise oscillator. Periodic adjustments of the
oscillator were needed to ensure the ozone tube remained in the resonant
zone to maximize ozone output. Or alternately, if the manufacturer
decided not to use a high frequency resonant-tuned circuit and instead
designed around the standard 60 Hz using a neon sign transformer, then
efficiency dropped noticeably and the weight and size of the transformer
(and the rest of the power supply) rose rapidly. Direct operation from
12 Volts DC was out of the question. This design approach describes your
typical ozone generator on the market today.
SOTA took another approach...
We incorporated a dynamic (or "hunting") resonant mode circuit (DRMO)
that continually monitored the ozone tube's natural resonant frequency.
Our circuit continuously adjusts the frequency of the Tesla high-voltage
transformer to precisely match that of the ozone tube's natural
frequency. This unique and proprietary design allows for an ozone tube
that is unaffected by changes in the tube's resonant frequency due to
changes in: material aging, humidity, barometric pressure, temperature,
etc. The result is a near constant, and consistent ozone production.
Additionally, there is never a need to "tune" the circuit as it is
self-tuning and always maintains maximum output.
The second breakthrough design made use of Zero-Point Voltage Switching
(ZPVS). Our ozone tube is ignited by a pure sine-wave of high-frequency,
high-voltage electrical energy. A sine-wave by nature has nodes where
the voltage crosses the zero-point, reverses direction and completes the
sine-wave.

We took advantage of the zero-crossing point to switch our high
frequency Tesla transformer precisely at these zero-point nodes. By
switching the transformer's primary at the zero voltage point (with
high-speed MOSFETs) we virtually eliminate voltage induced losses and
stresses. The result is our main transformer drive circuit runs at full
power without the need of any heatsinks whatsoever. Actually, during
operation of the WOZ3 ozonator the MOSFETs are only luke-warm to the
touch! This breakthrough design approach allows for extreme efficiencies
and reliability.
The final result of our efforts is a new generation ozone unit that is
directly powered by 12 Volts DC; is extremely lightweight and portable;
generates a very strong, pure and consistent ozone output; and has
outstanding efficiency and reliability.
